Practice Makes Perfect by Sarah Adams Hailee, May 24, 2024May 24, 2024 Pages: 338 Method: KindleRating: 5/5 I think this was one of those books that I happened to read at the perfect time because I absolutely loved it but it probably isn’t the best book I’ve ever read. I am a firm believer of “to each their own” when it comes to books. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and frankly, that’s what makes books so fascinating because even when people love the same book, they may love it for different reasons. I was sick when I read this book so my brain may not have been fully functioning, but the small-town romance, the fake dating, and the dialogue all combined to make this a super enjoyable read. I found myself relating to the FMC in a lot of little ways that made me immerse myself even more in the story. One quote that really hit me hard was this, βIt seems to me, Annie, that you are just waiting for someone to give you permission to be yourself out loud.β I also loved how the author kept the book closed door while at the same time showing appreciation for the steamy romance novels that a lot of people love. The FMC loves romance novels, and she has a specific love for ones that include pirates and that is such an iconic genre for the town’s sweet, shy girl to be obsessed with. And the way that she incorporated that into their love story was very entertaining. Overall, it was a low-stakes, easy read that I found very entertaining and while it may not be the best book every written, I loved it and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys romance, especially if they’re looking for a close-door romance!
