The Princess by Lori Wick Hailee, September 13, 2024 The Princess by Lori Wick Pages: 294Method: PaperbackRating: 4/5 I grew up reading a lot of historical fiction and christian fiction so Lori Wick, Karen Kingsbury, and Francine Rivers were some of the authors I read a lot. But of course, these authors have so many books that there are many I haven’t read. I was recommended this particular one by my boyfriend’s mother and I don’t think the timing could have been more perfect. It was a low-stakes romance, very down to earth, and short and sweet. It took me a second to get into it because the writing style was different from what I have been reading and the setting was a little confusing at first, but once I got into it, I ended up reading 232 pages in one sitting. For some reason, the vibe of the book made me feel like it was a lot farther in the past than it was, but it was actually set in the 1990s so it was more modern. That detail didn’t matter all that much besides the fact that they had phones and modern devices, but it felt different because it dealt with a monarchy, which is not relatable for an American. I enjoyed the characters and felt that they both had their moments of frustration and redemption for me. The side characters and storylines added to the main characters and were also given enough personality to appreciate them without feeling like they didn’t need to be there. I actually saw myself and my relationship in a lot of the elements of this book which I always love and it even made me emotional at times. I also loved the element of faith and how the characters were rooted in their faith and even shared the gospel with some of the side characters. This was definitely a cozy read and I would highly recommend it to any romance readers, especially those looking for Christian or closed-door romances. Book Reviews Romance
